Our standard finish is sandblasted matte — a subtly textured surface that diffuses light rather than reflecting it. This minimises fingerprints and fine scratches, making it the most practical choice for daily-use surfaces in both residential and commercial settings.

Why Stainless

How it compares.

SUS 304 is an austenitic alloy containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel. These elements form the passive oxide layer that gives stainless steel its corrosion resistance. It outperforms quartz in heat resistance, marble in maintenance demands, and laminate in every measurable category. Non-porous, inherently hygienic and food-safe without sealants.

Freight, done right.

Stainless steel surfaces are heavy, flat, and fragile at the edges. We don't ship via parcel couriers. Every surface is custom-crated in a wooden freight crate, padded with closed-cell foam at all contact points.

We cover the contiguous United States and all Canadian provinces. Delivery is curbside — your installer brings the crate inside and removes the crating material.

You'll receive a tracking number once your surface ships. Transit times typically 1–2 weeks depending on location.

Custom Crating

Each surface gets its own bespoke wooden crate, sized exactly for your piece. Foam-padded at every contact point.

Full Tracking

Carrier tracking number provided at dispatch. Monitor progress from our facility to your door.

Getting started.

Fill out our quote form on the Contact page with your dimensions, thickness preference, and any add-ons. We'll return a detailed, line-itemised quote within 3–4 business days. No account required and no commitment until you approve.
Measure the length and width of your substrate in centimetres (preferred for accuracy) or inches — specify which unit you're using in the Additional Notes field. For L-shapes or complex configurations, measure each leg separately and include a sketch. We'll confirm all dimensions before fabrication begins.
Yes. We work with restaurants, cafés, hospitality groups, and fit-out contractors. Multi-piece project orders are welcome. The process is the same as residential — submit your measurements, receive a quote, approve, and we fabricate and ship.
No minimum. We fabricate single pieces for residential clients as readily as multi-piece commercial orders. Small pieces under 12″ in any dimension may carry a minimum fabrication fee — noted in your quote.
Yes — the quote form includes a file upload field accepting PDF, DWG, JPG, and PNG files up to 20MB each.
Material & Finish

What you're getting.

We use SUS 304 (equivalent to AISI 304) — the most widely used grade for food-contact, architectural, and kitchen applications. It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The same grade used in professional restaurant kitchens worldwide.
Solid steel, through and through. Our surfaces start at 5mm full-thickness stainless — not a thin sheet bonded to MDF or plywood. This was exactly the problem we set out to solve when founding Lastra.
5mm is right for most residential kitchens. 6mm adds a more noticeable edge presence, popular for islands. 8mm suits commercial-adjacent or outdoor applications. 10mm is a premium architectural choice. Ordering a sample set is the best way to decide.
Yes. SUS 304 is globally certified for food contact. It's non-porous — bacteria cannot penetrate the surface. No sealants or treatments required. We knead pizza dough directly on ours.
Add-Ons & Customisation

Making it yours.

Yes. The sink bowl is welded directly into the countertop as a single seamless unit — no rim, no caulk joint. Specify position, length, width, and depth. Custom bowl shapes available — include a drawing for accuracy.
Yes. For faucet holes, specify the number, diameter, and position. Standard is 35mm; let us know if your fitting requires different. For appliance cutouts, provide the manufacturer's specified cutout dimensions or upload the spec sheet.
Yes. L-shapes, U-shapes, and custom configurations are all available. Measure each leg separately and include a dimensioned sketch. Complex shapes benefit from an uploaded drawing.
Lead Time & Process

What to expect.

Fabrication takes 4–5 weeks from deposit payment. Freight transit adds 1–2 weeks. Total is typically 5–7 weeks from deposit to delivery. Rush orders are not currently available.
Once you approve, we'll send a deposit invoice (typically 50%). Fabrication begins on receipt of deposit. We'll send a production update at the midpoint and notify you when your surface ships, with tracking number.
We fabricate and ship — installation is handled by your contractor or kitchen installer. We're happy to provide installation notes for your contractor on request.
Shipping & Delivery

Getting it to you.

Your surface is custom crated and shipped via freight carrier. Delivery is curbside. Full tracking number provided when shipped.
All contiguous US states and all Canadian provinces. We do not currently ship to Hawaii, Alaska, or internationally outside Canada. Remote addresses may carry a freight surcharge — included in your quote.
Inspect your crate before signing the freight receipt. Note any visible crate damage on the delivery paperwork and photograph it. Contact us within 48 hours with photos and we'll work with the carrier on a resolution.
Outdoor & Maintenance

Long-term care.

Yes. SUS 304 is well-suited for covered outdoor kitchens, bar tops, and BBQ surrounds. For coastal environments within approximately one mile of salt water, we recommend SUS 316 — mention this in your quote request.
Daily cleaning requires only a damp cloth or mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or steel wool. No sealing, oiling, or special treatment required — ever.
Yes. SUS 304 is rated for continuous use up to 870°C. Pots and pans can be placed directly on the surface without damage — a major advantage over quartz and composite materials.

Built because we couldn't find

Lastra Surfaces started in a kitchen renovation. It ended with us rethinking how custom stainless steel surfaces reach the people who actually want them.

The Origin

We were renovating our kitchen and knew exactly what we wanted: a solid stainless steel countertop. Durable. Hygienic. Timeless. The kind you see in serious kitchens — restaurant prep lines, professional pastry counters, the surfaces that just work.

What followed was months of dead ends. Fabricators who only worked with commercial contractors and wouldn't take a residential job. Sheet metal suppliers offering thin veneers bonded to substrate — not the solid material we had in mind. High-end design houses happy to help, provided we bought an entire kitchen from them. And quotes that ranged from vague to eye-watering, with no breakdown of why.

We just wanted a countertop. Our measurements. Our material. Shipped to our door. It shouldn't have been that hard.

These Terms govern your use of lastrasurfaces.com and any purchase from Lastra Surfaces. By using this website or placing an order, you agree to these terms.

1. Orders & Custom Fabrication

A binding agreement is formed only when we issue a written quote, you confirm acceptance in writing, and we receive your deposit payment. All surfaces are custom-fabricated to your specifications. All sales are final once fabrication has commenced.

2. Pricing

All prices are in USD unless otherwise stated. Starting prices shown on the website are indicative only. Final pricing is confirmed in your written quote and may vary based on dimensions, add-ons, and freight. Prices are subject to applicable taxes.

3. Deposit & Payment

A deposit (typically 50%) is required to commence fabrication. The remaining balance is due prior to shipment. Failure to pay within 14 days of invoice may result in cancellation and forfeiture of the deposit.

4. Samples

Sample purchases are non-refundable but are credited in full against a subsequent countertop order. Credit must be applied within 12 months of sample purchase.

5. Accuracy of Specifications

You are solely responsible for providing accurate measurements and specifications. We fabricate exactly to the dimensions provided. We are not liable for surfaces that do not fit due to inaccurate measurements supplied by the customer.

6. Shipping & Risk of Loss

Risk of loss transfers to you upon handover to the freight carrier. Delivery is curbside. Inspect your crate upon delivery and note any visible damage on the carrier's delivery receipt before signing.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lastra Surfaces' total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the relevant order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

8. Consumer Protection

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation in your province or state.
